SHARKS IN THE SWAMP!

Eight seniors from the Ponte Vedra High School Academy of Biotechnology and Medical Research  presented their research at the 52nd Junior Science, Engineering and Humanities Symposium at the University of Florida on January 25-27.

Charis Wang’s project was selected by a panel of researchers, professors and community volunteers from hundreds of applicants for placement in the speaking competition. Charis placed third out of 36 chosen speakers and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the University of her choice. In addition she will receive a sponsored trip to present her work at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in Washington, DC. on April 29-May 2. Her project title is Prevalence of Beta-Lactamase Genes in Oral Steptococcus Species in a Healthy Population: Molecular Analysis by Polymerase –Chain Reaction.
