Eligible students may apply to the St. Johns County Center for the Arts at St. Augustine High School, the St. Johns County Center for the Arts at Murray Middle School, or a High School Career Academy by completing the Program of Choice General Application.

The window to apply to a Program of Choice for the upcoming school year opens on January 24, 2019 and closes February 19, 2019 at 5pm. For more information, view a schedule of other important Program of Choice dates.

Please note: Students applying to the St. Johns County Center for the Arts at St. Augustine High School or at Murray Middle School must also audition on February 15th.

 

Eligibility

Before students may apply to a program of choice, they must be currently enrolled at a school of the St. Johns County School District or pre-register for the 2019-2020 school year.

Students will need to pre-register if they are currently enrolled in:

  • Private school
  • Home school
  • Virtual school

Pre-registration may be completed between January 24 – February 14, 2019 during regular school hours.

Private school, Home school, or Virtual school Pre-Registration Process Required Before Applying to a Program of Choice

Please note that a paper pre-registration process is required for private school, home school, and virtual school students who are currently enrolled in 5th, 8th and 9th grade and who intend to apply for a 2019-2020 Program of Choice. You will be unable to complete a Program of Choice application until pre-registration is complete.

  1. Who is eligible to pre-register as a student and complete the Program of Choice Application?
    1. Student must be living in St Johns County
    2. Current 8th & 9th grade students who wish to apply to a High School Program of Choice in 2019-20
    3. Current 5th grade students who wish to apply to the Murray Middle School Center for the Arts in 2019-20
  2. Is an online option for pre-registration available?
    Unfortunately, our online process is not available at this time for private school, home school, or virtual school students.
  3. What records do I need to bring for pre-registration?
    This document describes the procedures for enrollment in St Johns County. Be sure to bring the following to the school when registering:

    • Proof of Residency
    • Proof of Immunization
    • Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Guardianship (if applicable)
    • Physical/Health Exam done since August 2018
    • Social Security number (optional)
    • Academic records are not required for pre-registration. However, per procedure, you will be required to bring them before school begins in August 2019.
  4. Where do I take the records to complete the pre-registration?
    8th graders go to their current zoned middle school.
    9th graders go to their current zoned high school
    5th graders go to their current zoned elementary school

    After locating your zoned school, go to that school’s front office and ask for the Guidance Secretary, Computer Operator or Registrar to complete the pre-registration.

  5. What is the deadline for pre-registering?
    Pre-registration may be completed between January 24 – February 14, 2019 during regular school hours.
  6. Where do I get the Program of Choice paper application?
    After pre-registering, ask for the Program of Choice application. Fill out the form while at the school and give it to the Guidance Secretary, Computer Operator or Registrar. The school will fax it to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) District Office.
  7. When is the deadline for completing the Program of Choice application?
    The CTE Department must receive this Program of Choice paper application by 4:00 Tues., Feb. 19, 2019. The CTE Department will call you to confirm they have received your Program of Choice Application and the programs to which your child wishes to apply.
  8. Are there additional requirements before being accepted?
    IB and AICE: Applicants will be contacted after applying to provide additional academic information to prove academic eligibility for these programs.

  9. When will I be notified if I’m accepted into a Program of Choice?
    Notifications about acceptances/denials into the Programs of Choice will be emailed to guardians on Feb. 27, 2019.
